First Friday Free Readings–October 5, 2012

It’s time for another round of First Friday Free Readings! I am excited to share these questions and answers with you all today. Let’s get started!

Our first question is from Donna L, who writes:

I have a friend who has re entered my life after a time of separation. I want so badly to trust that they just want friendship and do care for me as they say they do, but I am still unsure.  Can I trust their intentions as being genuine?

For this reading, I have created a Tarot spread to highlight the following information for Donna. The Tarot cards drawn for her are also listed:

Card 1: What does Donna need to know about this sitution?  3 of Swords

Card 2:  What are the positive aspects or benefits of renewing this friendship?  Major Arcana The High Priestess

Card 3:  What challenges does Donna face in renewing this friendship?  9 of Wands

Card 4:  What is hidden from Donna about this situation that she needs to know?  8 of Cups

Card 5:  What is the general outcome energy of this renewed friendship?  Major Arcana The Chariot

Donna, two Major Arcana cards appear in your reading, indicating a higher message from the Universe concerning this situation. My sense in looking at these cards and where they appear is that your hesitation to renew this friendship and to guard your heart is grounded in a true intuitive understanding of your “friend’s” energy. The 3 of Swords indicates that you were deeply wounded when this relationship ended the first time, and it still hurts you to this day. Even if you and your friend have talked about this, you still carry emotional wounds, and healing is hard for you. The next card, the Major Arcana High Priestess, seems to indicate that there are higher lessons here for you to learn from this experience, and some of it has to do with trusting your own intuition and knowing that deception is part of human nature. The High Priestess often symbolizes hidden things, mysteries, and you may never understand how this other person operates or what motivates her. The lesson for you, however, is to listen to your inner voices, which will not steer you wrong. You are holding back for a reason, and you need to give yourself permission to limit this person’s access to you. There may be a hidden agenda here. The 9 of Wands represents challenges that you face if you decide to continue on a road to mending fences, and as a challenge card, I feel this is talking about your tendency to make things too easy for someone who has hurt you in the past. You can forgive them, but that doesn’t mean that you forget what has happened and let it happen again. The 8 of Cups indicates things that may be hidden from you, and this card often symbolizes someone walking away from a situation or leaving behind emotional turmoil. My feeling here is that you may end up with another broken heart if you allow this person to get too close–she may end up leaving again. The last card, Major Arcana The Chariot, indicates the general outcome energy of this situation. The Chariot is generally a positive card, so it may be that moving on will be beneficial for both of you if you can bring yourself to face the situation and to bless the other person while releasing her. This may not be easy, but you are learning an important lesson essential to your spiritual growth–and so is she.

Donna, I hope this reading helps you in some way. Thank you for submitting your question! Blessings to you.

Our second question today is from Jennifer H, who writes:

What do I need to do to have a successful writing career?

For this question, I created the following 4-card spread for Jennifer. The cards pulled are listed next to their placement in the spread:

Card 1:  What is the current energy surrounding Jennifer and her writing? 7 of Pentacles

Card 2:  What challenges to writing success face Jennifer? Ace of Cups

Card 3:  How can she best overcome these challenges?  Major Arcana Temperance

Card 4: What is the overall energy concerning Jennifer’s writing career in 2013?  Four of Wands

Jennifer, there is a very promising energy surrounding you as far as your writing career goes–you just need a little patience. I know, I know–I hate when people tell me that! And don’t ask the Universe for patience, because it will teach you patience by making you wait even more! Having said that, let’s look at your cards. The 7 of Pentacles is a card that represents growing resources. Right now, you may not feel like you’re rich (one of the ways we measure success), but your resources are growing, even if you can’t always see the growth that is happening. It’s OK to rest and not push yourself all the time to produce something. Everything in nature is cyclical, and when we have fallow times, it’s the Universe’s way of saying, “This is a time for thinking, for dreaming, for resting, for inner work. It’s not a time for activity.” This is where you are right now. Enjoy this energy–it won’t last forever! The Ace of Cups echoes this in your challenge card. Aces always represent new beginnings, and Cups are the suit of emotions and creative efforts. Your challenge right now is finding a project that captures your heart and your imagination. If you haven’t found it yet, don’t give up–it will come! The inspiration is right around the corner. You WILL have more ideas. Until something begins to gel, do other creative things to help yourself stay positive and upbeat. The Temperance card further counsels you to remain balanced in your life in order to face your writing career challenges. Trying to force yourself to do something that you’re not feeling strongly about will not help the situation. Allowing time for play, for other work, for family and friends–these things keep us balanced and happy, so allow time for this as well. This is the “right mix” that Temperance counsels you to find. This is the best way to achieve peace, and thus to spur the flow! Finally, 2013 looks very promising for you in your writing career. The 4 of Wands indicates celebrations, a happy family time, and perhaps a move of house or office that will benefit you. Four is a stable and reliable number, so you should see a steady flow of energy around your writing as the New Year starts.

Jennifer, I hope this reading gives you some insight. Thank you so much for submitting your question! Blessings!

Folks, that’s all I have time for this week. Don’t forget–YOU can submit a question for next month’s First Friday Free Readings feature. Just email your question to and look for your answer to be posted here on Friday, November 2. Until then, I send you all peace, love, and infinite light! Happy Autumn! xo

First Friday Free Readings–September 7, 2012

Today is our first installment of the new First Friday Free Readings here on the blog! I had a great response. If your question wasn’t randomly chosen this time for a reading, send it back in for next month, or ask a different question. Just email it to

So let’s get started with this month’s questions and answers!

Glenn S. writes:

What information do I need to know about where my career is headed?

Glenn, I did a quick Tarot spread to get some more information about your career for you. This spread looks at the energy surrounding your career for the next several months, up until the end of 2012. Here is the spread I did along with the cards pulled:

Positive aspects of Glenn’s current career/job: 10 of Pentacles

Challenges in Glenn’s current career/job: 9 of Wands

Changes to be aware of in the next several months: 2 of Wands

What Glenn can do to make the best impact on his career at this time: Major Arcana Strength

The energy of Glenn’s career at the beginning of 2013:  Ace of Swords

The 10 of Pentacles in the first position in this reading sets a good tone for you, Glenn. You are good at whatever it is you do, and this card indicates that your financial status should be (and remain) in a good position for the next few months. Whatever you are currently doing will continue to provide for you financially and deliver peace of mind in that regard. However, the 10 is the last card in the suit of Pentacles, so it can also represent the end of a cycle. This doesn’t mean an end to financial benefits necessarily–I sense it has more to do with you yourself becoming bored or unhappy with your job for other reasons. Fulfillment is important in any career, so although this job should continue to bring you the resources you need, you may still feel as if you’re ready to move on to something else.

Interestingly, the 9 of Wands that follows seems to indicate a similar energy. You may be satisfied for the most part with your current work, but the challenge may be remaining there in spite of some feelings of ‘wanderlust’ or the need to try something different. Again, the energy of the 9 indicates that you do good work and others appreciate it. You may feel at times, though, that you are working for no reward other than money or security. Personal, emotional, or spiritual fulfillment is an important part of your career, and this may be lacking.

The 2 of Wands indicates that this torn feeling may continue for the next several months. You may fight with yourself and question your decision to stay, but then you may also feel too nervous or agitated to begin a focused new job search. You may begin to see opportunities arise, however, especially through friends, family, or your social network, so keep your eyes and mind open to the possibilities.

The Major Arcana card Strength shows up in this reading right as we are asking a very pointed question: What can Glenn do to make the best impact on his career at this time? This is a card of hard work, ingenuity, and the reward that comes from exercising these attributes. It is also a card that symbolizes mind over matter. The best thing to do right now, Glenn, is to stop over-thinking everything. Putting your trust in your Higher Power, whatever that may be, will help to open up paths and doors for you. Your fear will be your undoing if you can’t release it. Face it and roar like a lion, and you’ll be surprised at how easily things move ahead once you claim your power.

Finally, the beginning of 2013 brings new ideas to you concerning work and career. The Ace of Swords ushers in a no-nonsense, practical energy when it comes to work, so be prepared to think things through then and to carefully weigh options. There may be an opportunity to strike out on your own or create something completely new out of nothing. Whatever happens, this is a great time to set goals and to pursue them with single-minded purpose. No matter what you decide, Spirit will aid you in creating and achieving it.

Glenn, I hope this provides some insight for you. Thank you for your willingness to share your question here!

Kimberly M. writes:

What do I need to know to  help me to find the job that I know I’m destined for and will love?

Kimberly, I’m going to throw 5 cards for you (the number 5 symbolizing change and freedom!) to determine an answer from Spirit for this excellent question. Here are the cards that appear for you:

3 of Swords; Knight of Swords; 4 of Wands; Major Arcana Justice; 2 of Swords

Several Sword cards appear here, indicating conflict and challenge, along with one Major Arcana card, which points to a need for equilibrium. I think, Kimberly, that you have been unhappy for quite a while in your current work situation and have been longing for something new. It’s important, however, not to rush into anything (Knight of Swords) because the best job is going to be something that may take awhile to attain. This may also be something that holds you back from it–the thought of having to make a decision, fearing it will be the wrong one (2 of Swords). This card also reflects the need for balance in your life, which you don’t have right now because you are spending too much time being conflicted about and worrying over your work situation. Have you ever considered any type of career in law (Major Arcana Justice)? This is a very literal interpretation of this card, but Justice can point to something of this nature. Whatever your true calling is, it resides within your heart, but you keep talking yourself out of it or telling yourself there’s no way you can achieve it (3 of Swords). The 4 of Wands says differently, however. The 4 of Wands is a card indicating a move of house or office, so you need to know that you can make a move to something different, no matter how hard it may seem or how far off the end may look. Yes, it will take a step-by-step process (the opposite of the Knight of Swords), and it may take a while, but it will be well worth it in the end. Don’t be surprised if there is more schooling or training. You must decide if you are willing to do the work to find what you heart truly desires. Spirit asks this of you. You don’t have to answer me, or anyone else. But in your heart, you recognize your unhappiness. Why not do something about it, now?

Kimberly, I hope this brings you some insight. Thank you so much!

Our final question today is from Tina B., who writes:

What can I do to help restore B’s health?

For this question, Tina, I will have a spread to concentrate on this concern and the following aspects:

What Tina needs to know about B’s health: 6 of Wands

What challenges still face B: Queen of Swords

What challenges face Tina: Major Arcana The World

Her best course of action at this time: Knight of Wands

General outcome for Tina and B: Queen of Wands

Generally, B’s health seems to be improving. The 6 of Wands indicates victory after a hard-fought war, and this is the energy of the first card thrown. The Queen of Swords indicates something that still challenges B in the health aspect, and this may have something to do with his own mind. Swords can indicate our thought patterns and the way we think about things. I feel I should encourage you, Tina, to encourage B to take control of himself and his situation. It’s OK for him to say no to people, to end friendships or relationships that do not help him or serve him, and to generally do whatever he needs to do to establish peace of mind. It may be that you, as mom (and I’m feeling this is the relationship here), can draw some of these boundaries for him and insist that others respect them. By setting a firm example, you model for him the type of behavior that garners respect from others and keeps you balanced and healthy in mind, body, and spirit. Your challenge, Tina, is presented by Major Arcana The World, a card that symbolizes the “silver platter” syndrome. As parents, we want to give our children the very best, and it may be challenging for you to stand back and allow B to make mistakes and to choose poorly. Of course, you need to step in if this becomes a harmful practice, but it’s also part of a parent’s job to allow the child to grow up and test the waters of adulthood. Guide him and never leave his side through this process, but don’t do everything for him. Otherwise, he won’t learn, grow, and yes, heal. The Knight of Wands advises that your best course of action at this time is to communicate as much as possible and to not be put off by any “young man” attitude that you may receive. This is just B’s way of testing the waters. He still values and appreciates you. The Queen of Wands indicates that you will be satisfied with the overall outcome of this situation, both for B individually and for yourselves as a pair in a close relationship. He may even surprise you by giving you a gift you never expected. 🙂

Tina, I hope this is helpful to you. Thanks so much for participating!

Well! Keep the questions coming! Our next First Friday Free Reading day is Friday, October 5. See you then!

First Friday Free Readings!!!

This is Molt from the movie A Bug’s Life. This post reminds me of my favorite line in the movie: “I’m asking you with my brain!”

It’s been awhile since I’ve done something new on the blog, and I think it’s about time. So, starting in September, I’m introducing First Friday Free Readings. Here’s the scoop:

1. Do you have a question concerning your life, your career, your relationships, or other issues? Email it to me at and include your first name and last initial along with an email address.

2. On the First Friday of every month, check back here to see if your question is answered. It’s that simple!

Some hints:

1. Don’t ask anything so personal you wouldn’t want it published online.

2. I will RANDOMLY choose questions to answer. The readings will consist of Tarot and/or spirit messages, depending on the question and what I feel inspired by Spirit to do.

3.  Please don’t take it personally if your question is not chosen. I will do my best to answer as many questions as I can on the first Friday of each month.

4.  Please don’t ask questions concerning death, ie: “When will I die?” or  “When will ____(insert name) die?” I will never answer a question like that.

5.  Please remember that the best questions are open-ended ones, such as “What do I need to know about getting a new job?” rather than “Will I get a new job at ABC Corporation?” If you want to ask about a specific situation, concentrate on a question like “What do I need to know about ABC Corporation?” If you are trying to decide between 2 options, give me the names of both so I can tell you how the energy feels.

6. Please don’t ask questions like, “Is my boyfriend cheating on me?” This type of question gives you nothing but a yes or no answer, which provides no healing or guidance for you. A question like “What do I need to know about my relationship with my boyfriend?” will garner much more insightful results.

If your question is chosen, I will send you a personal email to let you know that the answer will appear here on the blog.

Please help me out by letting others know about this. I’d love to have more visitors to the blog, and word of mouth is a great way to spread the positive vibes around.

Look for the premiere of First Friday Free Readings next week: Friday, September 7! Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend (for you American friends).
