Cool Stuff Coming Up

Hello blog world! Just thought I’d quickly update here. I’m busybusybusy getting ready for the Victory of Light Expo this Saturday and Sunday, November 17 and 18. This is the largest expo in the Cincinnati area, and it’s chock-full of exciting lectures, shopping, healers, and readers. Come out and experience the wonderful energy, do some holiday shopping, get some guidance from Spirit, and learn something new! I will be doing private readings for $35 (per 15 minutes) in my booth as well as selling and signing all of my metaphysical books. I will also lecture on Saturday at 12 noon on “Life on the Other Side” (including Spirit messages for the audience), and on Sunday, I will participate in a Gala Mediumship Demonstration with several other mediums starting at 1 pm.

I am also very excited that this weekend, my wonderful partner, Joanne Franchina of Inner Compass, and I will unveil our new year-long Mediumship Mastery Program. This is a serious instruction program geared for anyone who is committed to becoming a psychic medium. I will have more details next week after we present it all at the Expo this weekend, so stay tuned.

With that, I send you all peace, love, and blessings!!

A WIP and the ULE

For the last two weeks, I’ve been working on my new writing project every spare moment I get. The work-in-progress (WIP–and, dare I say, novel-to-be?) is another fantasy romance inspired by Arthurian legend. What is it with me and this theme? Anyway, it’s always exciting when the words want to flow. Too bad life, and other responsibilities, get in the way.

To that end, I wanted to let everyone know that I’ll be at the Universal Light Expo in Columbus, Ohio this Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14. I will be in booth 713, where I will be giving private readings and selling all of my books. This expo is enormous, and there are tons of great people, products, lectures, and energy for everyone to enjoy. If you’re in the Columbus area, stop by and spend some time with us. On Sunday at 11 am, you can even come and see me demonstrating mediumship with several other wonderful light workers.

These expos, while fun and exciting, always wear me out. But I hope to get back to writing bright and early on Monday!

Blessings to all!

First Friday Free Readings!!!

This is Molt from the movie A Bug’s Life. This post reminds me of my favorite line in the movie: “I’m asking you with my brain!”

It’s been awhile since I’ve done something new on the blog, and I think it’s about time. So, starting in September, I’m introducing First Friday Free Readings. Here’s the scoop:

1. Do you have a question concerning your life, your career, your relationships, or other issues? Email it to me at and include your first name and last initial along with an email address.

2. On the First Friday of every month, check back here to see if your question is answered. It’s that simple!

Some hints:

1. Don’t ask anything so personal you wouldn’t want it published online.

2. I will RANDOMLY choose questions to answer. The readings will consist of Tarot and/or spirit messages, depending on the question and what I feel inspired by Spirit to do.

3.  Please don’t take it personally if your question is not chosen. I will do my best to answer as many questions as I can on the first Friday of each month.

4.  Please don’t ask questions concerning death, ie: “When will I die?” or  “When will ____(insert name) die?” I will never answer a question like that.

5.  Please remember that the best questions are open-ended ones, such as “What do I need to know about getting a new job?” rather than “Will I get a new job at ABC Corporation?” If you want to ask about a specific situation, concentrate on a question like “What do I need to know about ABC Corporation?” If you are trying to decide between 2 options, give me the names of both so I can tell you how the energy feels.

6. Please don’t ask questions like, “Is my boyfriend cheating on me?” This type of question gives you nothing but a yes or no answer, which provides no healing or guidance for you. A question like “What do I need to know about my relationship with my boyfriend?” will garner much more insightful results.

If your question is chosen, I will send you a personal email to let you know that the answer will appear here on the blog.

Please help me out by letting others know about this. I’d love to have more visitors to the blog, and word of mouth is a great way to spread the positive vibes around.

Look for the premiere of First Friday Free Readings next week: Friday, September 7! Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend (for you American friends).

Responsibility in Readings and Life

I received an email the other day from a desperate person.

I get a great deal of email from people who have read my books and who stop by my website. Most of these folks are interested in my work as a clairvoyant medium, and they often write with questions about the afterlife, their passed over loved ones, etc. If these are general questions, I do try to answer each email personally with something that will prove helpful. After all, the person took the time to write to me–the least I can do is try to honor them by responding in some way. If I don’t know the answer to a question, I’ll tell them that and then try to point them in a beneficial direction. The only types of questions I won’t answer in unsolicited emails are those that are personal questions about the sender’s life. I gently tell these folks that I am a professional reader and that I’m happy to give them a reading if they’d like to go to my website and order one. Most of the time, I never hear from them again. More than likely, they’re just interested in receiving a free reading, and that’s fine. I do my share of work pro bono throughout the year, so I don’t feel guilty telling folks that they need to pay for my services.

But this particular email was different. Without going into too many specific details (which would be a breech of trust), the sender wrote that s/he had seen me in the past for a reading, and I had predicted a happy future for her/his love life. The sender currently has a committed partner and was quite content in the relationship. However, s/he recently saw another psychic, and that psychic had nothing but bad things to say about the sender’s relationship and partner. The psychic predicted that the sender would not be able to work out any issues and that the relationship was basically doomed to fail.

It was obvious from the sender’s email that this new reading of gloom and doom for her/his relationship had caused nothing but friction and problems in the relationship. The sender was now thrown completely into doubt about her/his ability to judge her/his partner, and s/he kept asking the partner to demonstrate love, affection, and commitment. Even though the partner was apparently willing to do this, the sender could not stop thinking about the other psychic’s reading and could not pull out of the doubt and fear it had created. The reading upset the sender so much that s/he wrote to me asking if I would look at the relationship again to “make sure” I saw what I saw in my reading for her/him.

This email made me terribly sad. And the more I thought about it, the more I realized I needed to write a blog post and get my feelings off my chest.

Here’s the big message: Please, please, please, DON’T ALLOW YOUR HAPPINESS OR UNHAPPINESS IN LIFE TO HINGE ON ANYTHING A PSYCHIC TELLS YOU. You alone are in control of your life and, therefore, your happiness. Just because a psychic sees something in the energy around you or in your future does NOT mean this is set in stone and will undoubtedly come to pass. It is an ENERGY, which means it can be manipulated in a different way. The manipulation of energy is called MAGICK. And whether you know it or not, you exercise magick every day, simply by exercising your FREE WILL. YOU ARE ALWAYS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ENERGY YOU CREATE. This is what free will and personal responsibility are all about. If you don’t like the energy in your life, CHANGE IT. This is well within your power, and you CAN do this.

There is nothing that upsets me more than hearing about (or receiving) a reading that is all about the negative stuff in someone’s life. Yes, we all have challenges. Yes, we all hit roadblocks, fail, become discouraged, etc. It is a part of life, and we need to accept that sometimes, we’re not going to be successful. But we also need to realize that we are co-creators with the Divine, and we CAN make changes when we need them in our lives. Some problems seem so big we might not be able to see how to make those changes. But sometimes, just a slight alteration in our focus or our thoughts can help us to get past a block so that we CAN see where we need to go. Baby steps may be tiny, but they can still be pointed in a good direction to help us walk a better road.

It is obvious to me that in the case of the email sender, s/he is creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. S/he is falling into the following thought pattern: “The psychic said my relationship would fail. She said my partner was cheating/manipulating me/doesn’t really love me.” And so this negative thought energy builds around the sender and creates a harsh auric field. This lower vibration starts to attract more lower energy to the sender, and the negativity continues to build from there. Because s/he is suspicious of the partner, friction develops where there was none before, and before long, the relationship is in shambles. And all because of something said in a reading!

If you are dealing with problems in a relationship with someone else, start first with yourself. Do you need to change your attitude? Are your own thoughts and issues clouding your judgement? Try looking at issues from the other person’s standpoint and see if you can understand her or his side of the argument. If you’re still not happy, talk to the other person. Be honest and open. If the other person loves you, s/he will make a concerted effort to work on her or himself and the relationship with you so you both can be happy. If you are still in turmoil, go to a COUNSELOR, not a psychic. A counselor is educated in how to help you address each other and your relationship issues. Make a commitment to work on the relationship.

Psychics and mediums can help you, and we can see what your energy is like right now and into the future. But please remember these words that are printed on a sign I have in my office lobby (courtesy of my dear office mate, Joanne):

Some things may not change. You may lose your house, your job, your marriage, your 401(k). If this is the energy around you, and there is a significant lesson for you to learn in this loss, it may still happen. But you can change your attitude and do as much as you can to make the energy softer, easier, and less debilitating if you have to go through it. This is why magick is beneficial, and why it brings you peace of mind even in the midst of turmoil.

Please remember: most psychics and mediums are professionals, trained to give the best messages they can with the most accuracy possible. And you STILL have the power to change what is predicted, simply by making other choices and exercising your free will.

I send you all love, joy, and peace.

Clairvoyant Rose

"I see dead people."

In a recent comment on this blog, Tracy asked me to talk about clairvoyance and my experience with it. I thought it fitting to post, along with my thoughts, a picture of a very famous clairvoyant.

Yes, this is a movie still from the film THE SIXTH SENSE. If you’ve never seen it, I highly recommend it. Without giving too much away, the little boy in the movie is a medium, but he really doesn’t know it, nor does he understand what to do with his “gift.” He’s scared most of the time because the spirits around him are usually upset, angry, or violent.

Honestly, if this were my experience, I could hardly blame him for being terrified.

Thankfully, I’ve never been afraid of my clairvoyance. It’s been a great asset throughout my life, and I’ve worked hard over the last 12 years or so to really hone it into something that’s reliable and controllable. I believe everyone (and yes, that includes you!) has this natural ability to perceive spirits and to tune into their intuition. Most of us, however, are too busy doing other things to make learning more about it a priority.

A textbook definition of clairvoyance is being able to see spirit with open eyes, or to see spirit in the mind’s eye. The little boy in THE SIXTH SENSE is a perfect example. He can see spirit as plainly as he can see the living people around him. This is great for Hollywood, but it’s not a reality for most of us actual mediums. I know very few mediums who can actually see spirit with their physical eyes. Most clairvoyants tell me that they see spirit in their minds and then can describe what that particular spirit looks like. When I’m able to see spirit, this is usually how it happens for me, although there have been rare cases where I’ve seen an actual glimpse of a spirit with my physical eyes.

Many people use clairvoyance as an umbrella term to describe any method of spirit perception. My most attuned spirit sense is clairaudience, or being able to hear spirit speaking. I usually hear pieces of phrases, names, music, and sentences that help me to understand who is communicating from the spirit world and what they want to say. People often ask me if I hear this with my physical ears, or if I hear it in my mind. For me, the voices are definitely in my mind, but they are different and are not my own voices. It’s hard to describe this to people that haven’t had the experience, but suffice to say that I can tell when a spirit is talking to me versus when it’s my own internal chatter, which we all have.

Many, many mediums perceive spirit through their sense of clairsentience, or feeling. This is also called impressional mediumship, and it indicates an ability to feel a spirit’s presence. A more refined sense of knowing about a spirit and understanding his message can be defined as claircognizance. These two perceptions are based more on feeling and impressions that the medium receives about spirit presences. These two senses are ones that I use quite often in my mediumship work.

As a professional medium, it’s interesting to me what lay people think we’re doing when we’re aware of spirit. Many folks think that spirits walk right up to us and initiate conversations anytime, anywhere. I’ll never forget going to a funeral for a friend’s father, and another friend came over to me during the visitation, which was held at the chapel in the cemetery. In a hushed, respectful voice, she asked, “So, are all the other people here bothering you?” I looked at her, puzzled, and glanced around the crowded room. For a moment, I thought she meant the visitors for the funeral, and I thought to myself, “Why would all these other people be bothering me?” Then I realized that she was asking if I was being solicited to deliver messages by spirits on the Other Side. I smiled and replied, “No. I’m not working, and they know that.”

It begged an interesting question for me, however. How many mediums really do walk around open all the time? I’ve heard some of the celebrity mediums talk about being bugged at all kinds of events to deliver messages to those gathered there. I remember John Edward writing in one of his books about being on his honeymoon and having to leave the beach so he could call a client with a message from a dead relative. And I’ll tell you what: if I was his wife, I would’ve had his hide for that one. (John, if you’re reading this, I love you and your work. But on your HONEYMOON?  Dear, we need to talk!) I draw a very distinct line with my mediumship work, and I’ll tell you why. I don’t believe we’re MEANT to walk around opened up to the spirit world all the time. Aren’t we supposed to be conducting our lives with our living folks? Even if we chose this path as a profession, how many accountants, bakers, truck drivers, etc. do their work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? None of them, I guarantee it. I think it’s important for us to close the door to the Other Side sometimes, and to just enjoy the present time and the living people that surround us. Spirit is important, too, but gosh, they’ve also got better things to be doing in Summerland. They don’t need to be jonesing for a connection to the physical world all the time when they have learning of their own to do.

So am I like Cole Seer (and isn’t that a great name?) in THE SIXTH SENSE? No, thank God. I don’t see spirit walking around my house. I don’t stroll around the lake at my local park and watch spirits drifting by, dressed in period clothes from other centuries. I don’t even go into old houses and feel presences. I am very, very precise about the work I do and when I do that work. If I want a connection, I open up the door, so to speak, I walk through it, and I receive information. When I’m not working, the door is closed. Yes, I will still sometimes get impressions, but they are vague and indistinct if I haven’t specifically asked for the information to come through. And my own spirit people know that if there’s something important I need to know for my own life, they can get my attention and tell me.

It’s hard sometimes for “regular” people to understand this. And it’s hard for them sometimes to respect it. I’ve had total strangers walk up to me at events, press pictures or other objects into my hand, and demand for me to read them. I’ve had people ask me at events while I’m eating my lunch or dinner to please, please give them a reading. “Oh, come on. Just a little message? It’ll only take a minute.” And I have to bite my tongue, be polite, and try to explain to them that it just doesn’t work that way for me. And really, how would you like it if I came to your desk while you were taking a danish break and asked you to print out that report for me one more time?  It’s the same for a medium. At least it is to me. If I’m off the clock, folks, please don’t ask me to punch back in.

But clairvoyance…it’s a beautiful connection to spirit. It really is. And you have it, even if you don’t realize it. Is it going to come to you walking and talking like your spouse in the next room? Maybe, if you’re really lucky–but then, you have to learn to turn it off, too. That might be your challenge. For some of us, the challenge is simply discerning what’s our own noise and what belongs to the spirit world. But if you are up for the work, it’s amazing and inspiring to do it.  And I do love it, so, so much.

On another note, folks: I will be appearing tonight on Darkness Radio from 12 midnight to 1 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. If you’d like to listen, go here:

There’s a button on the left side of the page where you can listen live.
